Sense: synonym of ho (tagged as US! Sheesh!) --Connel MacKenzie 01:39, 21 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cited (as an alternative spelling.) I broke it into two etymology sections (but I don't have an etymology for the tool.) I left the US tag (as the book cites were US; I didn't see any non-US ones in English), and added slang categorization. --Jeffqyzt 01:13, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I have added the etym for the tool, removed the rfv tag for the tool-user and marked it as sub-standard spelling. Andrew massyn 05:42, 22 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

No, it’s okay. Hoe is kuokka, not hara. —Stephen 00:48, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Etymology edit

Old French hoe, from Old High German. I can believe the Old High German, but is it really Old French, not Old English? Mglovesfun (talk) 10:27, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Though the TLFi gives houe as from Frankish, it doesn't specifically say that it was spelt hoe in Old French, but it's logical. Mglovesfun (talk) 10:45, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

hoedad, hoedag edit

What are these? Apparently a planting tool, perhaps a synonym for "hoe" or "planting hoe" or something related. Not same as hodag. Equinox 23:19, 11 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
