Rfv-sense: In a last or final manner. I think this is only a species of sequence adverb. There might be a distinguishable manner sense that sequence adverbs ultimately and finally have, but "lastly" doesn't share it, AFAICT. DCDuring TALK 17:07, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- RFV failed, sense removed. Also, I'm not very happy with the wording of the other sense (the one we're keeping), since I think it makes it sound like an adjective. "Lastly" is very restricted in use (we can't say *"he arrived lastly", though I think that may once have been possible), and our definition doesn't indicate that. Anyone feel up to improving it? —RuakhTALK 01:01, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
- I took a run at this, converting def to non-gloss, adding another sense, splitting the synonyms, adding another trans table, and, lastly, adding categories. The second sense is that of a discourse marker, not the end of a list. I could use some help in illustrating the second usage with a brief usage example, if that is possible. Note how long this would be as a usage example. Lastly, is it even an appropriate distinction for a dictionary? DCDuring TALK 11:52, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
