Seems it can be both, although the adjective is much more common. Interestingly, although the general clumsy/stupid sense is quite old, the earliest cites for the "landlubberly" sense I found were in the early 1800s. The Napoleonic Wars must have seen record numbers of landlubbers pressed into naval service.... Could there be a connection? -- Visviva 15:31, 9 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
