A related term to "mondegreen" (at least in Britain) is "colemanball", referring to fluffs made in the media. It was named (by British satirical magazine Private Eye) after BBC sports commentator David Coleman, although oddly enough the BBC commentator most noted for colemanballs is actually Brian Johnson.

Examples of notable colemanballs:

  • "The bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey" — Brian Johnson, commenting on a cricket match
  • "Israel has been invaded by lesbian forces" — anonymous BBC Radio 4 newsreader
  • "When the chips are up against him, he pulls out all the stops" — Wimbledon commentator, about Bjorn Borg
