We recently looked at an old slate quarry for sale in France. It appeared that the whole of the surrounding area which was elevated about a hundred feet above a canal was artificial, having been made of slate spoil. The hamlet alongside the quarry is called Le Rick ( a very unusual French word/name for a dwelling place), and I wonder if it could have been named because it was built on an artifical pile or 'rick'. — This unsigned comment was added by 90.59.115.48 (talk) at 09:13, 26 June 2008.
