Can whoever is in charge of editing explain why my wiki entry that properly pluralized runner-up into runner-ups removed my entry? Just curious. It is a hyphenated word, so the entire word is to be treated as the noun, not the first half of the hyphenated word. Example what is the pluraliztion of top-hat, or jump-rope. tops-hat? or jumps-rope? no — This unsigned comment was added by 162.106.6.3 (talk) at 21:58, 12 August 2008.

This is also discussed at Talk:runner-up. In this case, the first word is the noun, so it is considered correct to pluralize it. Neither "top" nor "jump" is a noun, so pluralizing them is incorrect.
Also, no one person is in charge of editing, but according to the edit history, SemperBlotto is the one responsible. In his next edit, on the other hand, he added "runner-ups" as an alternative pluralization.
