Sanskrit edit

I am embarrassed by the appearance of the "च्य", which should not appear thus, but as a ligature, id est as a single sign, which I am incapable to show, because the ligature did not succeed here. Can someone fix it, the ligatures are indispensible for Sanskrit?! If you use Wordpad and paste it there (where I actually managed to write it correctly and where is no problem with the appearance), you will be able to behold the ligature. Please, I beg you, fix this problem, so that Sanskrit be rendered appropriately, since I am not at all knowledgeable in this electronic stuff... Bogorm 15:47, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I just managed to peruse some other articles involving Sanskrit and should infer that nowhere do the ligatures appear properly - exempli gratia here with the "स्क" Shall I write a plead to the Bear parlour? Bogorm 15:54, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not sure, but maybe this helps you: Go to Wiktionary:Preferences, check the box "Allow special characters to be input into the search box" & "Use the preferences set on this page", then hit "'Save settings'". After that you should see a new drop-down menu under the Search box, select "Devánāgarī" in the drop-down menu. Then you can enter Sanskrit characters by clicking, and copy/paste them from the search box. Mutante 15:56, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Your suggestion would have worked if I had to search for an article with a title in Devanagari - in one browser it did not work at all, but in a second there appeared this field under the search box on the left, but it inserted Devanagari characters in the edit box, and still with no ligatures. I am going to ask in the Beer parlour, if you do not mind. Bogorm 16:34, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sure, go ahead and ask in Beer parlour. Mutante 16:49, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I think the problem must be your browser. When I look at "च्य", I see the ligature (i.e., not "चय"). —Stephen 16:54, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

pronunciation edit

Hi, adding a few words on the unusual pronunciation would enrich this entry a great deal. Thanks in advance. --Backinstadiums (talk) 09:14, 18 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
