Are we sure it means drunk?

It could certainly have its conventional meaning in this sentence and still be grammatical. It would be quite odd to use this to mean "drunk" when there are so many other ways to say it. Even if the author did intend it that way, it is so ambiguous that I would expect it to be a one-off usage and not part of a wider trend. Given the context, it's also possible that it means in this one instance both drunk and stoned (i.e. crunk). All I'm saying is that I'm skepitcal .....
