The etymology of suffer should not be "suffer" (see the last word under Latin). Very circular.

You’ve misunderstood. That word is not part of the etymology, it is the meaning of the Latin verb suffero. It’s a translation, not an etymon. —Stephen 02:15, 27 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
