Talk:tući

I don't think so. Serbo-Croatian tući is from earlier tlći (with the syllabic /l/ which yielded /u/ in the Štokavian and Čakavian dialects), from earlier tlěći (I have no idea how jat has been lost, but it's preserved in e.g. Slovenian cognate tlẹ́či "to beat"), whence by liquid metathsis from Common Slavic *telkti. Jat can also be seen in OCS тлѣшти (tlěšti) (OCS /št/ regularly corresponds to Štokavian Serbo-Croatian /ć/). Russian as an East Slavic language would be expected to demonstarte pleophonic -olo- reflex of a Common Slavic sequence of a vowel followed by a nasal el-, which can indeed be seen in толочь. As for the стучать itself, it obv. has to be analyized as с-туч-ат-ь, whose /y/ you can in no way formally match with SC /u/ which arose independently from /l/.
