There are two syllables, that means two words. What do they mean?
In Turkish it is 'tünel'. Unlikely that the Turks learnt it from the French.
One can understand it via Hungarian: 'tűn el'; 'appears away'. See the Sumerian 'dingir'. (The Sumerian name was stuck on them by Oppert. They called themselves 'mahgar' or 'kumahgar'.)
