It's listed in Brooke-Little's An Heraldic Alphabet under this spelling. Parker's Glossary of Terms used in Heraldry has the spellings varval and vervel. Elvin's A Dictionary of Heraldry has varvell, vervel, and wervel. --EncycloPetey 04:25, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
