Vinen an adjective?

Though Czech native, I am now unsure whether vinen and its opposite nevinen indeed are adjectives. I can predicate of a man that he is nevinen, in a sentence Ten muž je nevinen, but I cannot place the adjective at the left, like Nevinen muž plakal; instead, I need to say Nevinný muž plakal.
