Hello. In french, "warp & woof" edit

is technically "la trame" of a fabric. When used figuratively, it would be "l'armature" , as in the sentence  : "that sturdy grand-mother was the w.& w. of the family" - or in "The vigorous anglo-saxon base had become the w. & w. of english speech..."
