At the time of writing, the etymology for the "urge" sense says: From the English yen-yen, "a craving for opium", from the Chinese yIn-yáhn, "opium craving".
I can find these Chinese characters: yān (pinyin), yin1 (cant.), 煙 (trad.), 烟 (simp.) meaning "opium" etc; and yǐn (pinyin), yin3 (cant.), 癮 (trad.), 瘾 (simp.) meaning "craving" etc. If we can confirm these as the words we should put them into the Etymology. — Hippietrail 14:59, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
