User:Catonif i don't know what the previous user meant with zë but judging from the quote you provided and after having had a look myself to the work this word seems to be a univerbation of the expression të zënë fill which in Gheg would be të zanë fill. Thus, in Italian, "prendono (il) filo ≈ prendono inizio, prendono origine". There are other passages in the work which make this even more clear. So it would be the past participle of zë (“to take”).
