This template takes the first positional parameter for a single page number, first two positional parameters for a range of pages, and the parameter |head= for a lemma.

MacBain is very unreliable for tracing etymologies beyond Old Irish, since it was published decades before Indo-European etymology was refined as a discipline. Cite with caution.
