  1. (taxonomic view) A taxonomic subclass within the class Sarcopterygii – the sarcopterygians; the tetrapods and some osteolepiforms.
  2. (cladistic view) A taxonomic subclass within the class Sarcopterygii – all Tetrapoda and various extinct relatives more closely related to them than to coelacanths, lungfish, and their extinct relatives.
