You make a convincing argument ;-). It would probably be good if we move this discussion to some major talk page, so others will know where to cite our decisions.
What I would like to know is whether -i and -u were still present in Frankish. Do you know of any i-stems or u-stems that were borrowed into Old French? Did they keep the ending?
