- Zweifellos gehört die Doppelaxt zu den zentralen Elementen der minoischen Religion, und sie findet sich auch, zwar seltener, bei den Mykenern, aber gerade in der älteren Zeit: „The double axe“, „the most important Minoan religious symbol of all, does, however, occur in corpore on the mainland, but only at a few sites and for a limited time in the early phase of the Mycenaean era.
