From Old Whtevi twoqy, from Early Awen *dwoò, *dəwoò, from Proto-Lyndian *d͡ʒVɦʷV (five) + *-ò, a loanword from Proto-Northwest-Caucasian *t͡ʃxʷə, *ćxʷə, *ʃẍə (five). Cognates include Modern Basque bost (< *d͡ʒVɦʷV + *-rt͡s), Ubykh ʃxə.
