first normal form (uncountable)
- (databases) A relational table with its name, its set of attributes and a fair corpus of rows, ready to normalization. A first normal form (abbreviated 1NF) has five properties: P1: Each item is homogeneous along the column; P2: Each item, a number or a string; P3: Each row, unique; P4: Row ordering does not carry information; P5: Attribute ordering does not carry information.
