Quick question

How do you decide when these have been ‘done’ according to the scope of this page? I've worked on a fair few of these – I've spent a lot of time on of, for instance – so would be interested in what else you're looking for, or basically how you're monitoring it. Ƿidsiþ 06:37, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Oh, it's likely some entries I haven't checked/struck yet are very complete; the fact that I haven't struck them off the list simply means I haven't looked at them yet. :) I compiled the list not by looking at entries and going "that looks incomplete", but by listing as many very basic words as I could think of, so that I could then check them.

I check the completeness of entries by combing through other major dictionaries and verifying that every sense they discern is either covered in our entry or not actually attested. (To be clear, I don't copy senses from other dictionaries — not only would that raise copyright questions, it's in my experience often the case that other dictionaries have multiple senses for things that are perfectly covered by one sense, or vice versa have amalgam senses that we do well to cover by multiple senses, and/or have senses that can't actually be shown to have been used by anyone in the real world.)
