Obsolete & Archaic Jawi Spellings edit
There seem to be only two official standards for Jawi spelling: the so-called PEJYD (Pedoman Ejaan Jawi yang Disempurnakan); and its predecessor, the Za'ba system (1949-1986).
I haven't been able to find any resources online for the Za'ba system, so I guess this will have to be left to someone else. FYI, I guess the main resource would be the Daftar Ejaan Melayu Jawi by Pendita Za'ba (the spelling system is named after him).
There was no standard before Za'ba, which means that the spelling varied from writer to writer. The obsolete spelling that I included came from dictionaries that preceded Za'ba by at least a few decades, so I guess that counts as proof of its existence. Again, I don't have access to any original Classical Malay manuscripts (hikayats etc.), so that's something else that I need help with. It would be great if we could add quotations in the original Jawi (for the separate obsolete Jawi page, of course).
Pronounciation edit
AFAIK, the major dictionaries do not give IPA pronounciations. Kamus Dewan only goes as far as using an é to differentiate /e/ from /ɘ/. So the pronounciations that I have given are both based on what comes out of my own mouth. Does this fall under original research?
Bahasa Baku is spoken-as-written, so that's pretty straightforward. And from what I've seen, the Johor-Riau transformation of the final a to /ɘ/ is pretty well-documented, as is the loss of the final r. But does this have to be cited? For every single entry?
