Thanks for your contributions on birds. Many of the definitions at Wiktionary are minimal: taxonomic names being defined by vernacular names and taxonomic relationships, vernacular names by associated taxonomic names. I try to add pictures for species and for any higher taxa that are likely to be unfamiliar to "normal" users. We try to differentiate ourselves from all the other databases that cover taxonomic entities by seeking to include obsolete terms that have been in non-specialist use, specific epithets, and etymological information. I am very interested in "demand"-based additions to Wiktionary, that is, adding taxonomic and corresponding vernacular terms, based on any kind of evidence of the frequency of use of the terms, which for now means the number of links within Wiktionary to the terms.
