Hi, you've just asked me about this as well, and I too am afraid I don't know anything about how barnstars work. Yes I've seen them on Wikipedia, but I never did edit much over there, so I've never gotten one before nor certainly awarded any. (Right now our most active contributors are awarded with sysop privelages since the Wiktionary is growing so rapidly.) Those who contribute but do not participate are generally left to themselves, for instance a handful of anonymous contributors who have declined to register. Vandalism vs newbie tests

Please don't assume people are deliberately vandalising when what they are doing is just as likely to be a newbie test. Remember many of our users have never seen a wiki and they may not understand English very well. Newbies

Since you've been here for about 3 weeks, without an article edit, it seems to me that biting other newbies might be just a bit agressive?

It sometimes takes newcomers a bit of time to learn things around here. It's a dictionary.

You shouldn't copy text to user talk pages; often someone is trying to get google (or whatever) search visibility. It just gets deleted. Robert Ullmann 22:15, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Please take some time to get to know us better..

We appreciate your efforts at Recent Changes, but you really need to spend some additional time familiarizing yourself with English Wiktionary policies and practices before jumping in with both feet in a quasi-admin role.

We don't label users as vandals on their talk pages or user pages or keep lists of vandals/vandal IP's - preferring instead to follow the concepts outlined in w:WP:DENY. Persistent vandals are sometimes warned, but more often than not, they are blocked for a few hours or a day. Most just hit once & leave.

We use 'patrolled edits' here on English Wiktionary - we may not be right on top of every change as it is made, but every anon contribution is eventually checked by one of the admins.

Some of the items you identify as vandalism - aren't vandalism, as others have mentioned. You would be very surprised at some of the terms which do meet WT:CFI. Also, please don't tag vandalized pages with {{delete}} without first checking the page history to see if there is a real article under the vandalized copy.

As I said to start with, we do appreciate your efforts, but please get to know us better before continuing.

Your block & quasi-admin activities.

As I mentioned in my previous message, we generally don't issue warnings, but rather short blocks - your block was only 1hr. It was however, accidental - you accidentally recreated a deleted article (by saving it with the delete tag after it had been deleted, despite the automated warning).. you were blocked for recreating deleted content.. - the block was reversed by another admin when he realized what had happened. It's not the best system in the world, but at the moment - that is how it works here - we are working on a more formal process for blocking at WT:BLOCK.

On an semi-related side note, I strongly encourage you to become more familiar with how things are done here before you engage in any further quasi-admin activities. Tagging obvious junk as {{delete}} is generally unnecessary, especially when there are admins who appear active in recent changes, if you do tag - please note that you are tagging for delete & the reason in the edit summary. --Versageek 01:21, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

See blanket stitch and running stitch: these are perfectly good entries; they need wikifying and a bit of copyediting on the defintions, that is all. They don't qualify for delete, much less speedy. Robert Ullmann 15:39, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Reverting

Again, your attempts to revert vandalism at Talk:Wikipedia resulted in an unreadable page [1]. I have a feeling you are trying to revert by cutting & pasting from the "show changes" screen, which would be incorrect. I would strongly recommend you do not look at RC, do not edit anon users talk pages, do not try to tag pages as vandalism or whatever. RC patrolling is not a privilege or a challenge, it is drudgery undertaken by those who would rather be doing something else. At present I am spending too much time patrolling you. I am saddened to see that you were unblocked. Worse, that your behavior has degraded somewhat, since then. We don't welcome all accounts here. Most accounts created here are vandal throw-away accounts. Once again, you violate w:WP:DENY with your actions. Simply containing the word fuck is not POV. While much vandalism here does contain the word fuck, it does not guarantee (nor even imply) that it is vandalism.

With regard to FTW and another warning..

You are mistaken about those entries in FTW, while these phrases might be considered POV in an encyclopedic article about war or the world, this is a dictionary. We are defining the initialism FTW. We define terms as they are used - not as we think they should be used.. We are descriptive not prescriptive. In real life, FTW is an initialism which can represent the phrases Fuck The World, or Fuck The War .. it's a FACT - there is NO POV involved.

Once again, I suggest you take some time to understand the nature of the project and how things are done around here before continuing to edit in the manner that you have been. To date, many of your contributions have been disruptive and not in the best interests of the project, the only reason you haven't been blocked for much longer than the few short blocks that have been imposed so far is that it's clear your transgressions are a result of ignorance and inexperience, rather than malice.
