Wiktionary:Votes/pl-2010-01/Renaming CFI section on genealogic names

Renaming CFI section on genealogic names edit

  • Voting on: Renaming CFI section 5.4 on genealogic names, the one currently entitled "What Wiktionary is not with respect to names", with the new name "Genealogic content". The proposed renaming has no practical effect on inclusion criteria.
  • Justification: The current name of the section poorly captures the section text, and does not fit into the heading structure:
* 5 Names
    * 5.1 Company names
    * 5.2 Brand names
    * 5.3 Given and family names
    * 5.4 What Wiktionary is not with respect to names
    * 5.5 Names of specific entities

unlike the proposed name

* 5 Names
    * 5.1 Company names
    * 5.2 Brand names
    * 5.3 Given and family names
    * 5.4 Genealogic content
    * 5.5 Names of specific entities

The section to be renamed reads:

Wiktionary is not a genealogy database. Wiktionary articles on family names, for example, are not intended to be about the people who share the family name. They are about the name as a word. For example: Whilst Yoder will tell the reader that the word originated in Switzerland (as well as give its pronunciations and alternative spellings), it is not intended to include information about the ancestries of people who have the family name Yoder.
