staycation n

(informal) A vacation spent at or close to home. (British, Ireland) A holiday spent in one's own country without travelling abroad. (US) A vacation spent at one's own home without other overnight accommodation. Today is the eve of the 40th anniversary of World Tourism Day, which was established in 1980 and is recognized by the United Nations to raise awareness about tourism’s role in the international community and to demonstrate how it affects cultural, political, social, and economic values worldwide.
