Wiktionary talk:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage

Seems to have been copied from Wikipedia, and a few paragraphs mention that project where they should be mentioning Wiktionary. Equinox 23:24, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't get what you are trying to say. Is there anything specifically wrong with how this page is set up currently? Razorflame 23:25, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Technical 13 edit

Hello! I'm here to request to have my name added to Wiktionary:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage so that I may post comments on the talk pages of site and userscripts that are using deprecated (per MW:ResourceLoader/Legacy JavaScript) resources. I'll simply be appending a new section to the talk pages of .js pages using `addOnloadHook` titled "Legacy JavaScript". It'll include {{JS migration|done=no}} and a short description of the changes with a link to the MediaWiki Legacy Javascript subpage of the ResourceLoader page and my signature. I've already started migrating pages on Meta: and MW: which do not have AWB CheckPages, en:w: and Commons: which do (and I'm listed on both as myself ( enwp | commons ) and as my bot ( enwp | commons )), and was temporarily listed on the list on simple.wikipedia for this project ( added | done ) Thanks. And why would you want to spam a non-working template on an unspecified number of talk pages? Why not just post a list of links on a user subpage? Keφr 22:41, 21 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Template works fine, so I have no idea what you are going on about there. This system is working on enwp, simplewp, meta, commons, and mw. The best way to fix these scripts is to categorize all the broken scripts (including site gadgets that are about to break), notify the user responsible for their scripts they are about to break, and help them fix them themselves. I also have a request in for global edit interface to be able to work on and fix these scripts myself, and I'll be working from the category this template adds. • First three: Module:String does not exist, {{Tl}} does not exist, {{Edit protected}} does not do what you think it does (it did not exist either until recently), and I am too lazy to find more errors. And this whole approach will simply not work here. Most users who wrote any scripts used here are currently inactive, and your request for permissions is not going to look like it is going to be granted, so if anyone is to fix those scripts, that will be me (or CodeCat, but CodeCat is busy). And I prefer a simple list of pages. Keφr 07:34, 22 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
      • Fixed, fixed, doesn't matter. I've also created {{!((}} and {{))!}} which were apparently missing. If you just want to fix them yourself, do wiki searches for deprecated elements like addOnloadHook, addPortletLink, /wg[A-Z][\w]*/, addButton, insertTags, /is_[\w_]*/, etc... Otherwise, I'll hunt them all down like I'm doing on all the other projects, create a master category to work from, get permissions, and start fixing them. Happy coding!
