Ypecolsga
Dutch edit
Etymology edit
First attested with certainty as ypekaldege in 1245. Borrowed from West Frisian Ypekolsgea, or uncertain etymology. Proposed derivations from a compound of Old Frisian Ipe (“a personal name”), kol (“elevated place”) and gâ (“village, village area”) or a corruption of *Hippolitusga do not match with the oldest attestations.
