Etymology edit

Derived from owó + àrún.

Pronunciation edit

Numeral edit

aárùn-ún

  1. five (used when counting)

Usage notes edit

  • According to the Standard Yoruba Orthography approved by the Joint Consultative Committee on Education in June 1974, to show the lengthening of a nasal vowel and not a syllabic nasal, a hyphen should be inserted: aárùn-ún and not aárùnún. Nonetheless, the latter, in addition to aárùn, is still used.
