after-dinner speech (plural after-dinner speeches)
- A public address event that is traditionally spoken after a dinner, and meant to take an important topic and make greater sense of it through the use of humor that is relevant to the idea presented.
Usage notes edit
This type of speech is found at the collegiate level and is typically eight to ten minutes long. Major Competitions featuring such speeches: American Forensics Association (AFA), and National Forensics Association (NFA).
