Etymology edit
Learned borrowing from Prakrit or the Sanskrit equivalent अकल्प्य (akalpya), from अ- (a-, “not”) + कल्प्य (kalpya, “[what ought] to be performed”), gerundive of the root कॢप् (kḷp, “to perform; to arrange; to prepare”). Cognate to Pali akappiya.
