aknātsa

Tocharian BEdit

EtymologyEdit

From Proto-Tocharian *āknātsā, probably corresponding to a Proto-Indo-European root *ṇ-ǵnō-tyḤ < *ṇ-ǵneh₃-to-, *ṇ-ǵneh₃-tih₂ , from *ǵneh₃- (know), deriving its meaning from that of "ignorant". Compare Sanskrit अज्ञात (ájñāta) ("unknown"), Latin ignotus (unknown, also ignorant), Ancient Greek ἄγνωτος (ágnōtos, unknown, also ignorant). Compare Tocharian A āknats.
