allikko
Finnish edit
Etymology edit
From Proto-Finnic *aldikka-, probably a derivation from *aldas (whence allas). For the latter component, compare -ikko (from Proto-Finnic *-ikkoi), which derives a number of nature nouns such as matalikko (“wash, shallow water”) and lammikko (“puddle”).
Pronunciation edit
Noun edit
allikko
- puddle (small pond of water, usually in the middle of an ombrotrophic raised bog)
