Etymology edit

anti- +‎ natalism

Noun edit

antinatalism (uncountable)

  1. (philosophy) A family of philosophical views that are critical of reproduction — they consider coming into existence as bad or deem procreation as immoral.
    Antonym: natalism
    • 2015, Todd K. Shackelford, Ranald D. Hansen, The Evolution of Morality[1], Springer, →ISBN, page 141:
Antinatalism is a negative view toward human fertility (and perhaps the fertility of other sentient life forms). Philanthropic antinatalism is the belief that humans should not have children for the good of the (unborn) children—that it is better, for humans, not to be born (Benatar, 2006).
