bévítans
Icelandic edit
Etymology edit
A minced oath, with bé (“B”) being the first letter of bölvaður (“cursed!”) and the latter half being derived from the (now uncommon) curse word ansvítans.
Ansvítans is an adjective derived from ansvíti (a contraction of andskoti (“devil”) and helvíti (“hell”)) that imitates the ending of andskotans.
