Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *bʰewd- (to beat). Cognate with Latvian bel̂zt (to strike).

Verb edit

belsti (third-person present tense béldžia, third-person past tense béldė)

  1. to knock, make a noise
  2. (colloquial) to speak with animation
