Inherited from Ottoman Turkish بتشك (bitişik, touching, adjoining, adjacent, united),[1] from Ottoman Turkish بتشمك (bitişmek, to become contiguous, to join, to grow together, to adhere), from Proto-Turkic *bütüĺ- (to mutually confirm),[2] morphologically bitiş- +‎ -ik.
