bjeshkë

AlbanianEdit

EtymologyEdit

Possibly from Latin *pastica, from pastus[1], although with unsolved phonetic difficulties. More likely from *bjershkë, a derivative of bie 'to fall' (cf. pjeshkë < *pjershkë < Lat persica). The term could be the source or related to the oronym Beskidy mountains[2].

NounEdit

bjeshkë f (indefinite plural bjeshkë, definite singular bjeshka, definite plural bjeshkët)

  1. mountain, mountain pasture
