Etymology edit

From Vulgar Latin *plui, from Latin plus. The initial pl- changed regularly into a geminated cchi- while the final Latin -s turned into -i as happened also in nui, vui and poi. Compare Italian più (and earlier piue), Neapolitan cchiù.
