Etymology edit

Probably from a Vulgar Latin *cytula where ⟨y⟩ was i̯u or also *cyatula after cyathus (small ladle) altered from Latin cotyla (a kind of cup without handles), from Ancient Greek κοτύλη (kotúlē, cup, beaker).
