Welsh edit

Etymology edit

From a Proto-Celtic *dī-ad-kān-, from *dī- (from, of) + *ad- (ad-) + a root *kān- (sound) that also appears in gwogawn (glory), gogoniant (splendour), and digon (enough).[1]

This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.
Particularly: “*kān- looks like it could be related to Proto-Celtic *kaneti (to sing).”
