From Ottoman Turkish فصلدی (fıṣıldı, fıṣıltı, “whisper, whispering noise”),[1] from Ottoman Turkish فص (fıṣ, “onomatopoeic for; whispering or soft hissing noise”),[2] morphologically fıs + -ıl + -tı.
