1. content (numerical, as a fraction of a whole)

   Als het CO₂-gehalte in het bloed daalt, we spreken van hypocapnie.^[1] — If the CO₂-content in the blood falls, we speak of hypocapnia.

2. value, purity (if higher fractional content (of a valuable metal in an alloy) equals higher purity, less impurity; thus, higher value (of the alloy as a whole, per unit of weight))
