gehalte n (plural gehalten or gehaltes, diminutive gehaltetje n)

  1. content (numerical, as a fraction of a whole)
Als het CO2-gehalte in het bloed daalt, spreken we van hypocapnie.[1] — If the CO2 content in the blood falls, we speak of hypocapnia.
  2. value, purity (if higher fractional content (of a valuable metal in an alloy) equals higher purity, less impurity; thus, higher value (of the alloy as a whole, per unit of weight))
