gravity wave
English edit
Noun edit
gravity wave (plural gravity waves)
- A wave for which gravity is the restoring force.
- (proscribed) A gravitational wave.
Usage notes edit
The term gravity wave is sometimes used as a synonym for gravitational wave. However, gravity wave also refers to the waves formed where two fluids meet under gravity and as a result the use of the term to describe the astrophysical phenomenon is proscribed.[1]
