Finnish edit

Etymology edit

From Proto-Finnic *hinta, from earlier *šimta-, possibly borrowed from Proto-Baltic *śímta (compare Lithuanian šimtas (hundred)), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *ḱm̥tóm (hundred), and thereby a distant doublet of sata. Cognate with Estonian hind, Erzya чонда (čonda, ransom), чондат (čondat, money (archaic)).
