hruse

Old EnglishEdit

EtymologyEdit

From Germanic *xruso- ‘ground, ice’. Apparently there is a cognate in Old High German hroso, hrosa ‘ice, crust’. The Germanic root may be from the same Indo-European source as Latin crusta.
