ichnocoenosis (plural ichnocoenoses)

  1. A trace fossil assemblage, the progenitors of which all belonged to the same faunal community.
  1. An assemblage of fossil traces representing the activities of an association of living organism. Possibly being also referred to as a palaeoichnocoenoses, which means an assemblage of trace fossils, showing evidence of an assemblage of formerly living organisms, some of which may have left no other fossil evidence of their existence.
