Pronunciation edit

  • IPA(key): [ˈkɒt͡ʃint]

Etymology 1 edit

Possibly from an obsolete verb sense from a combined noun and verb term in the sense “to curve; curvature” [its noun counterpart being kacs (tendril)] + an instantaneous verb suffix -int. Its original meaning may have been “to look askew”.[1]

  1. (intransitive) to wink (to blink with only one eye as a message, signal, or suggestion, usually with an implication of conspiracy)
